Description Overview Mapei Ultrabond P990 1K is a ready-to-use, one-component polyurethane adhesive formulated for wood flooring installations. Its solvent-free, elastic composition makes it ideal for bonding many types of timber and engineered wood floors to a variety of substrates. The adhesive combines strong bond strength, extended open time, and flexibility to accommodate wood movement—all in a single component system without mixing. Applications & Suitable Substrates Ultrabond P990 1K is designed for use with solid wood, engineered wood, multi-layer parquet, and timber flooring backed with ply or similar bases. It can be applied over cementitious screeds, levelling compounds, existing tile, terrazzo, and wood substrates (when properly prepared). The adhesive is also compatible with underfloor heating systems, helping maintain a stable bond even with substrate temperature fluctuations. Application Instructions Ensure the substrate is clean, flat, stable, and free of dust or contaminants. Apply the adhesive with an appropriate notched trowel (e.g. size #2 or #4), spreading across the substrate evenly. Allow the adhesive to sit (flash off) per the manufacturer’s guidelines until tacky but still workable. Lay the wood flooring, pressing or rolling to achieve full contact and eliminate air voids. Once bonded, allow the installation to cure—light foot traffic may be allowed after about 12 hours, and finishing (sanding/polishing) after 3 days.
